Closet Lifer – in LifeChantese – is defined as a blogger who lives her/his life by way of the posts s/he generates on said blog.

SYNONYMS: e-Lifer; VirtuaLifer; Fake-asser

Disclosure: The author of this post is brilliantly qualified to write this post because she has lived as a Fake-asser in the (way too recent) past.

A blog is a virtual experience; a mirage; an intangible expression of your life; LIFE being the operative word.

In his e-assertion about why blogging alone is not living, one of my online muses, Satya Colombo, got all “what you goin’ do now, Willis?” on me with his words about living life, then blogging about it, as opposed to philosophizing about my soul, my sources, and my shit, and not taking consistent action.

Why (better yet, HOW!) did he manage to get all up in my business like that, son?!

Clearly, Universe just got Her ears cleaned, and after hearing about my still-in-process transition, went ahead and put me on blast. Apparently, Satya was in a prime position to hear that echo, and chat me up. ‘Preciate it!

These days, I’m much happier about writing on this site and my other blog, and that’s in large part due to the fact that I’ve stopped hiding behind my blog, and started to live bigger, bolder, and with weightier ovaries. BLADOW! I’m actually blogging less, which according to many experts, is tribe-building suicide, but I’m only writing when I’m moved to do so through a live experience or an inspired thought; so editorial calendars are no longer useful for me (in this leg of my journey), and I’m polar bear cool with that!

I’m surely not discounting the events I’ve produced or been a part of, the connections I’ve made, and the delicious people with whom I’ve shared energies. All of that is what led me to this place of creating my agency, and owning my title of Life Chanter. That counts like a mo-fo, and for all of it, I am appreciative and slightly giddy!

HOWEVA… let me not even try to front like there wasn’t a time where I let the comfort of having an established online presence lull me into a state of “yep, I’m doing stuff”.  I was hiding behind this 17 inch Macbook Pro, and occasionally running outdoors to attend a conference, participate in a meetup, conduct an interview, get interviewed, plus all the yummy wife/mommy life stuff.

I’m shedding that skin, and my God, the air on my new skin feels so divine! I’ve got goodies lined up, I’m going out more and chanting life into my world with other delicious beings, and overall, I’m living my life, then writing about it.

My work in this life is to help beings define, design, and live their best-case scenario lives. I do that with my workshops, my speaking, my writing, but mostly by being.  This is my Great Work, my Life Chant, and I am so up for the ride!
